Shell LiveWIRE is very important to Shell, because when we help local entrepreneurs to set up businesses, they create long term sources of income for communities, they create jobs and they help to find innovative solutions to social and economic problems.

Developing young innovation around the world

Innovation is a recognised tool to increase the sustainability, survivability and success of any business; Shell LiveWIRE ‘Top Ten Innovators’ highlights and rewards LiveWIRE businesses that demonstrate excellence in innovation.

Innovation is all about change – the act of making changes in your business via the introduction of new products (or improvements to existing ones), services, methods or processes. These changes will make a significant positive difference, and that difference should be measurable in some way (e.g. an increase in jobs, turnover or customers; savings in time, cost or resource). Real innovation will lead to sustainability, and growth.

The Top Ten Innovators Awards programme aims to accelerate entrepreneurial innovation in LiveWIRE businesses that meet the eligibility criteria (i.e. trading for between 12 months and 5 years, and have growth potential).  By creating a group of ‘Top Ten Global Innovators to watch’ the programme is supporting the creation of role models for other young entrepreneurs, and demonstrating clearly that introducing innovation supports growth and job creation.

Enterprise development is one of Shell’s global Social Investment themes, which is why LiveWIRE programmes work hard to help young entrepreneurs turn bright ideas into a long-term source of income. 2017 marks the 35th Anniversary of the Shell LiveWIRE programme, and Shell is proud to have supported innovative young entrepreneurs, like the ones highlighted on this website, for so long.
